adventure time lore is insane. it starts off just being a goofy kids show that has magic for no reason, but then you learn that all magic users are manic and/or depressed (what betty calls sadness and madness). because it turns out magic is actually a cosmic force beyond mortal comprehension, that itself was learned from cosmic entities that predated the existence of time itself inside a sea of monsters. and "magic" really is just understanding more about the nature of the universe than most people. that, in a way, reality isnt "real" and understanding that allows you to mold it. and thats magic. but that drives you to insanity and/or apathy. and there are beings who hold significant cosmic importance who are more prone to magic. and the reason magic became prevalent on earth is because of a nuclear war a thousand years ago, which released the entity that represents the destruction of all life onto the world. and after a nuclear apocalypse this gave way to a new earth, where magic could thrive. but a lot of the beings we see arent even magical, theyre just mutants from what happened 1000 years ago. and humanity as we know it has been all but wiped out. but everything stays the same because cycles of war and violence continue. and it doesnt matter if its nukes or magic. everything stays the same, but still changes.

The whole point of writing fascist characters as human beings is that real fascists are also human beings. If you think of fascists as somehow less than human you are falling into the trap of letting their mentality frame your worldview, thus legitimizing their course of action!

When you start looking at fascists as subhuman the debate becomes 'which group is actually subhuman and which is being unfairly maligned?' And personally I'm not fucking comfortable with that question being on the table ever.

#ADDITIONALLY #it makes recognizing fascist ideology in the people around you so much harder #bc if you know someone as a person #and a fascist isn't a person #then clearly this person can't be a fascist #or have fascist views #they're your colleague or your neighbor or your family member #they are way too human to be fascist

It's always tempting to write fascists (and humiliate irl fascists), who lean so far out of the window to call themseles master race, by pointing out how very much they are not the master race. How they were ugly. Inbred. Weaklings. Sexually impotent. Genetically deficient. Should not be allowed to procreate. Subhuman...

And before you know it, you have accepted their most fundamental premise, that this all was a struggle in a genetic hierarchy, and that "genetic trash" was a valid category and subject of discussion.

Ideally, you want the opposite to happen, they get so discouraged they say, oh shit, in that case, since I lose by those rules, maybe the whole master race thing was not the best plan for me.

But in practice, they love this shit, and have enough garbage pseudoscience to last them forever.

It's the same with penis jokes against sexist men, people. Hurts innocent people by association and embraces entirely the wrong framework.

one thing that's also important to remember about committed white supremacists is it isn't just that they think the white race is superior. you certainly see that in arguments about western culture and the way white supremacists talk about black people in particular, but the thing that ultimately galvanizes white supremacists to act is the idea that the white race is in decline. that decline comes from miscegenation, from the proliferation of "bad genes," and from cultural and political decay (i.e. decadence and degeneracy.) all of these factors, according to this ideology, make the white race weak, dependent, and docile enough that (((THE JEWS))) can solidify their domination of the entire world and breed the white race that opposes them out of existence

white supremacy isn't just a fact, it's an aspiration and a thing that has to be maintained in the face of competition. that's why eugenics and the subjugation of women are so important to nazis. they want to purge their society of impurities and undesirables in order to create the Best White Race Possible. if you point out that they're not there yet, that doesn't contradict their ideology at all. if anything, once they're done laughing in your face, it'll only motivate them further
